Replin by Hainsworth, a manufacturer of fabrics for aviation and transport interiors, is celebrating 80 years since the Replin Fabrics business was founded by Jewish-Hungarian refugee Dr Maurus Banyai in 1945.
The “Replin” name was a hybrid of the word for the “rep” style of weave, a warp-faced weaving pattern with a ribbed look, and “Gobelin” after the Gobelin tapestry weaving factory in Paris that is still operational to this day.
