Bacterial cellulose-based dressing for burn wound care

A research team in China has developed a novel bacterial cellulose (BC) based haemostatic dressing that enables rapid and sustained bleeding control. By anchoring human-derived thrombin onto a BC matrix via a specialised cellulose-binding domain, the researchers created a thrombin-anchored BC composite dressing that enables rapid haemostasis and promotes wound healing.
