Fabric-embedded sensors to prevent pressure sores

Researchers in the US are testing the use of pressure sensors woven into a fabric that acts like a bedsheet to collect pressure and moisture data from patients lying in bed or sitting in a wheelchair. The sensors can monitor patients’ physical condition and alert healthcare workers before pressure sores form.
