Russia is increasing its imports of cotton from Tajikistan and other Central Asian states owing to rising demand from domestic producers.
According to Tajikistan’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Nigina Anvari, supplies of cotton fibre to Russia this year have increased by 62% year on year, with such growth expected to continue until the end of the year and in 2025.
The Tajik government also plans to increase cotton exports to other countries through the establishment of joint ventures with local players.
