Lead, arsenic and other toxic metals detected in tampons

Researchers at the University of California Berkeley, USA, have discovered toxic metals, including arsenic, lead and cadmium, in tampons, highlighting significant health risks associated with their use owing to direct exposure and absorption.

Their study revealed varying levels of these metals based on the tampons’ origin (e.g., the US, the UK and the EU), organic status and branding.
