Nanofibres yield stronger, tougher carbon fibre composites

Researchers at the US Department of Energy Oak Ridge National Laboratory have developed a new technique using carbon nanofibres to enhance binding in carbon fibre and other fibre-reinforced polymer composites – a development likely to improve structural materials for vehicles, aircraft and other applications that require lightweight and strong materials.
