Non-absorbable synthetic fibre surgical suture

A non-absorbable surgical suture made of a synthetic fibre has been developed by W. L. Gore & Associates of Newark, Delaware, USA.

The Class 1 suture is designed to overcome performance limitations of existing products, including undesirable degradation of some suture materials due to hydrolysis, an undesirable degradation of tensile strength and material cohesion where a knot is formed with a monofilament suture, and inadequate knot retention.
