Aquafil, an Italian company specialising in the production of polyamide (PA) yarns, has inaugurated in Slovenia the first pilot plant for the chemical separation of elastane fibre from PA.
Aquafil started on this work in 2013 by initiating a research project together with the Georgia Institute of Technology in the US and filing an initial patent. In 2022, the company published a new patent, the result of improved technology that was finally ready to be tested on a semi-industrial scale.
