Rear seatbelt adapts to passengers of different weights

Passive safety systems supplier ZF Lifetec will launch a new rear seatbelt system in mid-2025.

The SPR61 is said to improve available options for vehicle safety in the rear seats and goes beyond the existing safety requirements for passengers in the rear.

Owing to a unique mechanical decoupling that is activated when the seatbelt is overtightened, the system can better adapt to passengers of different weights in the event of a crash.
