Researchers in the UK are developing a smart textile band that can detect and monitor the progress of sarcopenia, an age-related condition characterised by loss of muscle mass, function and power. The research brings together experts from Nottingham Trent University, Newcastle University and Axomics Medical.
The wearable device, known as the Axoband, features screen-printed flexible electrodes to measure electrical signals generated by the muscles and includes an embedded electronic sensor capable of tracking movement.
