A superabsorbent wound dressing configured to provide an indication as to when the dressing has reached a maximum absorption capacity has been developed by Solventum of Maplewood, Minnesota, USA, the healthcare business recently spun off from 3M.
This provides an indication to a caregiver as to when a wound dressing should be replaced and to further prevent unnecessary changing of the dressing.
