Support for textile export cluster in Moldova

Sewing factories and workshops on both banks of the Nistru River, including in Gagauzia, have joined together in the Moldova Textile Export cluster, created with the support of Sweden, the UK and UNDP in Moldova.

Light industry is an important sector of Moldova’s economy and the third largest national exporter, particularly to the EU, and provides around 30,000 jobs.

The textile export cluster is one of six newly established economic clusters along the Nistru (the Romanian name for the river Dniester) that are receiving financial support totalling US$1.3m to boost their development and foster economic co-operation between communities on both riverbanks.
