Union leaders in Myanmar arrested for support of factory strikes

At the end of July, in a series of arrests, a leading garment worker union leader in Myanmar, Myo Myo Aye, her daughter, Chue Thwel, and at least nine other members of the labour organisation, Solidarity Trade Union of Myanmar, were detained by the country’s military junta, with their whereabouts currently unknown.

Dozens of civil society groups, including Clean Clothes Campaign, Just Associates, Front Line Defenders, Forum-Asia and Human Rights Now, are calling for the immediate and unconditional release of the human rights defenders.
