Carbon fibre for aircraft and automotive applications

Toho Tenax, the core company of the Teijin Group’s carbon fibres and composites business, has announced the development of Tenax XMS32, a new carbon fibre that is said to achieve both high-intensity and high-tensile modulus required for aircraft and automotive applications.

Toho Tenax developed its new grade carbon fibre with a uniform structure by optimising the structural design of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) based precursor and by optimising its manufacturing process.

Compared with Tenax IMS65, the existing grade carbon fibre that has been mainly used for aircraft applications, Tenax XMS32 offers 10% more intensity and 10% greater tensile modulus.
