Techtextil highlights innovations in the growing Mobiltech sector

Last month, the biennial Techtextil trade fair in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, attracted 1,322 exhibitors from 48 countries, a 10% increase over the previous event in 2011, while the number of visitors at 27,500 from 97 countries also amounted to a 10% increase.

Today, technical textiles account for 27% of global textile production. The five biggest areas of application and growth are Mobiltech (transport), Medtech, Buildtech, Sportech and Protech.

This year’s eight Techtextil Innovation Prizes included one of relevance for automobile textiles: Devan Chemicals of Belgium won the 2013 Prize for New Materials.
