Max Mara accused of ‘plagiarising’ traditional ethnic designs

A social enterprise group in Laos has claimed that luxury fashion label Max Mara “copied” unique designs from a remote ethnic group without any compensation or acknowledgment.

The Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre said the Italian fashion company used the designs of an indigenous community in Laos for some of its designer dresses, skirts and blouses for spring/summer 2019.
