Myanmar clothing factories on brink of closure as coronavirus hampers raw material supply

Myanmar could be facing clothing factory shutdowns as the coronavirus epidemic hampers its raw materials supply, according to the Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association.

The country’s garment sector imports up to 90% of its raw materials from China and the rest from Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and South Korea for the cut-make-package model of production.
