Myanmar clothing sector struggling as orders slump

Myanmar’s cut, make and pack clothing factories are struggling due to the lack of orders from its major market, the EU.

In January, most garment factories were forced to stop overtime owing to dwindling stocks. Around 90% of raw material supplies came from China, which were blocked because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, and the rest came from Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and South Korea.
