The Philippines Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has signed an agreement with local authorities to open a PHP41.6m (US$800,000) Regional Yarn Production and Innovation Center in Miagao, Iloilo.
The DOST-Philippine Textile Research Institute will train the people who will operate the facility, which is hosted by the Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) at its Miagao campus.
ISAT U will later partner with the Great Women project in the Philippines, which will run the operations at the end of the two-year project.
