Viscose fibre producer Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) opened a new plant in Pangkalan Kerinci, Riau, Indonesia, earlier this year.

The facility, which has an annual production capacity of 240,000 tonnes, was established with an investment of more than IDR10.9trn (US$740m). It has committed to export at least 50% of its viscose fibre output, with the remainder targeted at domestic manufacturing.

APR, one of the largest integrated producers of viscose in Asia, is part of global pulp giant Royal Golden Eagle, controlled by the Sukanto Tanoto conglomerate.
