Amoeba dressings for treating antibiotic-resistant pathogens
Antibacterial wound dressings, bandages or other wound coverings that incorporate amoeba for the treatment or prevention of microbial infection, especially antibiotic-resistant bacterial infection, are disclosed by Viscus Biologics, a developer and supplier of biomaterial components and devices.
The dressings include a composition comprising one or more species of amoebae of the genus Willaertia, such as Willaertia magna, and can be used to treat, for instance, chronic wounds, pressure sores or other ulcers.
