Fibre composite from biopolymers

Hybridtextil Cellun DITF x1000Together with CG TEC, Cordenka, ElringKlinger, Fiber Engineering and Technikum Laubholz, the Deutsche Institute für Textil- und Faserforschung Denkendorf (DITF) is developing a new fibre composite material with reinforcing fibres made of cellulose.

Made from renewable biopolymers, Cellun is said to enable the replacement of glass or carbon fibres in the production of industrial moulded parts. The matrix of the material is a thermoplastic cellulose derivative that can be processed in industrial processing methods, such as hot pressing or pultrusion.
