Asahi Kasei chases automotive growth

Following July’s announcement of the acquisition of Sage Automotive Interiors, the world’s largest manufacturer of car seating fabrics, Japanese conglomerate Asahi Kasei is looking to triple its sales of around €1bn to the automotive industry in 2017 to €3bn by 2025.

Speaking at a press conference last month in Düsseldorf, Germany, Asahi Kasei’s president of performance polymers Hiroshi Yoshida explained that few in the industry were surprised by the Sage acquisition.
