Autoneum, a global supplier of acoustic and thermal management systems, introduced a number of innovations in automotive floor systems at the 53rd Dornbirn Man-Made Fibers Congress held last month in Dornbirn, Austria.
Speaking at the conference, Mega Nathan Meenakshisundaram, senior research technologist for carpets and surfaces, argued that “lightweighting” is the most cost-efficient measure to lower carbon dioxide emissions, which are reducing at around 4% a year.
Autoneum’s new Clean-Tuft system combines a fine polypropylene (PP) yarn and a fine-gauge tufted carpet that is said to offer the aesthetics, haptics and durability of a premium tufted carpet.
