Azerbaijan plans to increase cotton and silk processing

Azerbaijan plans to significantly increase the volume of production and processing of cotton, aiming to meet local demand and start exports.

In recent years the area under cotton in Azerbaijan has increased, from an area of 17,000 hectares in 2015 to 136,000 hectares last year.

As a result, the country’s cotton harvest should reach 250,000 tonnes this year compared with 35,000 tonnes in 2016.
