Leading cotton growers in Azerbaijan have called on the government to help increase cotton production.
Despite the fact that in recent years production has grown several-fold, many farmers are unhappy with the latest state actions, which, they say, have resulted in the withdrawal of pasture and huge losses for local cotton growers.
Producers decided to significantly increase cotton production several years ago owing to promised state support, mainly access to cheap state loans. However, according to farmers, most of these promises were never implemented.
