Südwolle Group, a spinner of wool and wool-blend worsted yarns, is supporting medical staff in hospitals in Romania and China with high-performance base-layer clothing that is worn underneath protective apparel.
To produce base-layer clothing that absorbs moisture and provides thermal support, the Nuremberg, Germany-based company used merino wool textile waste with slight colour deviations that were initially intended for sports, outdoor or technical end-uses at its Silvania Worsted Spinning mill in Simleu Silvaniei, Romania.
