The provincial government in Batangas City, Philippines, is targeting the international fashion market with its indigenous textiles and apparel, particularly those made by local artisans using time-honoured weaving methods.
Katrin Buted, Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office head, told the Philippine News Agency that a successful month-long celebration of native fashion, which culminated in a fashion show in May, was only the beginning of their promotion efforts.
