In the first half of 2013, exports of Bulgarian textiles, knitwear and clothing increased by 1.8% in value terms compared with the same period in the previous year. Textile industry exports accounted for the 7.4% of the country’s total exports in the January-June 2013 period and 12.2% of total imports.
Figures from the National Statistical Institute show that sales of clothing manufacturers in the domestic market grew by 18.1% year on year in the second quarter of 2013.
Although the industry is well positioned in Europe, companies are worried about a shortage of workers.
