A dissolving implant containing cartilage derived from stem cells has been shown to reduce pain and restore hip-joint function to baseline levels in a study of dogs with moderate osteoarthritis.
The findings are the result of a US study published, led by researchers at North Carolina State University, Washington University in St Louis and Cytex Therapeutics, and could represent a first step toward less- invasive joint resurfacing in both canine and human patients.
