Contemporary male dress styles in South East Asia

At the 6th ASEAN Traditional Textiles Symposium held in November in Bandar Begawan, Brunei, insights into indigenous fabrics and their uses in each country in ASEAN were highlighted and discussed.

Professor Michael Howard of Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, focused on male clothing in South East Asia, where the traditional attire from prehistory was for no garment for the upper body and an abbreviated loin cloth or bark cloth for the lower body.
