Thailand’s government plans to set up a design centre to improve the country’s textile production technology and improve the added value of the clothing sector with better fashion design.

The new Thailand Industrial Design Centre will compete in the high-end market, said Prasong Nilbanjong, director of the Thailand Textile Institute (THTI).

THTI is one of 11 institutes working under the Ministry of Industry to help support the private sector, which comprises mostly small and medium-sized enterprises, in research and development as well as design to create industrial products with added value, he said.
