The development of the textile industry is essential for Bulgaria’s gross domestic product, according to Miglena Hristova, a member of the board of the Bulgarian Association for Textiles, Clothing and Leather.

Speaking at a recent textile, clothing and leather conference held in Ruse, she pointed out that the sector accounts for nearly 9% of the country’s total exports of BGN4.5bn (US$2.6bn), creating around 12% of the value added in industry and providing employment for almost 100,000 people.
