Illegal textile market continues to grow in Russia

The value of illegal and counterfeit textile goods in Russia reached US$6bn in 2017, slightly higher than the government initially planned.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Viktor Evtukhov said that, taking into account that 80% of the Russian textile market is represented by imports, the majority of counterfeit textile products come from China and other Asian countries.

In addition significant volumes are supplied from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and other CIS countries, which generally have “leaky” borders with Russia.
