Indonesia aims to become one of top five textile exporters

Indonesia is aiming to become one of the world’s top five textile exporters over the next few years, according to Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto.

The country currently occupies tenth place in the rankings with a 1.8% share of the global textile export market, with China at the top of the list.

Hartarto said Indonesia must first become the dominant textile supplier in its domestic market before pursuing overseas expansion. The country imports a large proportion of its textiles from China.
