The Indonesian government is to introduce a safeguard tax on ready-made clothing imported from China, Vietnam, Singapore and Bangladesh. The duty will range from US$0.44 to US$11.29 per piece.
The decision, which has been discussed since November, aims to bolster Indonesia’s textile and apparel sector in the wake of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
