Key trends in transport composites

Transport/mobility remains a key growth driver for composites for both glass fibre reinforced plastics (GFRP) and carbon fibre reinforced plastics (CFRP), with textiles supplying the reinforcement element in structural and semi-structural moulded parts.

According to Hendrik van Delden of management consultants Gherzi van Delden, increasingly textile firms have “discovered” this growth market over the past couple of years, integrating corresponding product and market strategies into their business model.

Discussing composite trends in mobility markets at September’s Dornbirn Global Fiber Congress in Dornbirn, Austria, van Delden said this concerns all manufacturing segments of textile substrates, such as yarns, braids, constructed textile surfaces and nonwovens.
