The government of Kyrgyzstan expects domestic textile production to double from US$141m to US$250m over the next four years.
According to Deputy Minister of Economy Eldar Abakirov, the textile and clothing industry faced difficult times in 2014-2015 during the country’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union, which led to a significant increase of imports. However, the situation has stabilised in recent years.
