Clothing manufacturers in Laos are facing several problems including a shortage of labour, according to the Association of the Lao Garment Industry.
Manufacturers have little bargaining power as their costs rise while prices received remain constant, the association’s president Xaybandith Rasphone (pictured) pointed out at its eighth general assembly held in Vientiane in December.
A shortage of skilled labour is a chronic problem in the sector resulting in the reduction of apparel exports, he said.
