Latvia eager to create joint production in Azerbaijan

Latvia’s textile manufacturers are keen to create joint production in Azerbaijan to enable them to further export products to the CIS countries.

Mehriban Akhundova, chief executive officer of the Gilan Textile Park, who is also chair of the Textile Producers and Exporters Association of Azerbaijan, said negotiations are currently under way, adding that Latvia’s underwear manufacturers have shown interest.

“It is currently unprofitable for them to enter CIS markets because of existing customs duties and taxes for European countries,” she said.
