Latvia plans to increase exports of textile and light industry products this year, according to Guntis Strazds, president of the Latvian Association of Light Industry Enterprises.
He said that in 2015 exports of textile and light industry products fell by 9% compared with the previous year and amounted to €540m (US$609m).
According to Strazds, one of the reasons for the export decline is the ongoing economic recession in Russia and other CIS states, which results in lower demand. However, he hopes that exports will resume their growth this year.
