French group Michelin will invest €60m in its tyre cord factory in Zalau, Romania, aiming to increase production by 50% by 2019. The investment will also lead to the creation of 140 jobs. The factory currently has some 350 employees.
The tyre cord factory in Zalau is a strategic unit for Michelin as it supplies tyre reinforcement components to the group’s tyre factories in Europe, America and Asia. Some 90% of the factory’s output is exported.
