mtex innovation prize for new knitting technology

mtex, which was being held in Chemnitz for the fifth time, awarded the first ever mtex Innovation Prize to Christian Franz of the Institute of Textile Machinery and High-Performance Material Technology (ITM) at the Technical University of Dresden, Germany.

The 28-year-old engineering graduate was rewarded for his contribution to the research project “Warp knitted structures with integrated functions”.

The technology allows the lightweight textile heating elements needed for electric cars to be produced far more efficiently than before.
