Myanmar clothing sector sees threefold increase in export earnings

In 2018, export earnings from Myanmar’s clothing sector reached nearly US$4.6bn and this is expected to hit US$10bn USD by 2024, said Khaing Khaing Nwe, secretary of the Myanmar Garment Manufacturers’ Association at the fifth anniversary of the association at the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in mid-May.

The clothing sector has seen a fivefold increase in the number of workers while income has increased tenfold. “We are making constant efforts to double productivity,” she said.
