New facility helps put Philippine tropical fabrics in mainstream market

The Philippine Textile Research Institute of the Department of Science and Technology is hoping to push tropical fabrics, such as those made from piña and banana, into the mainstream market with the opening of a new technical research and development centre.

The establishment of PTRI’s P54 M Innovation Center for Yarns and Textiles that will produce yarns customised to customers’ and industry needs is a step closer to the larger objective of revitalising the Philippine textile industry.
