Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry has partnered with the regency of Tanah Datar in West Sumatra to establish a centre for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) dedicated to developing the woven textile sector in the region.
Strategic programmes to improve competency, research, production and promotion are expected to be conducted at the centre, which will encourage makers of woven fabrics to create fashionable products with better designs, motifs and quality for customers, said the Ministry’s director general for SMEs Gati Wibawaningsih.
