Technical Fibre Products (TFP) has announced that its nonwovens are present on the recently launched European Space Agency satellite GAIA.

TFP supplied the material through RUAG Space, a provider of thermal insulation to the space industry, as a constituent in the multilayer insulation that is primarily used in thermal management of the satellite’s solar shield.

GAIA was successfully launched in December and has now entered its operational orbit, where it aims to make the largest, most precise three-dimensional map of our galaxy by surveying an unprecedented 1% of its 100bn stars.
