Reducing powertrain noise with lightweight PET textile

A lightweight textile made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fibres that can both insulate and absorb sound waves has been developed by Autoneum for use in automotive engine bays.

With Hybrid-Acoustics PET, the Switzerland-based company has adapted its Hybrid-Acoustics textile interior technology to enclose electric motors, thereby contributing to lighter, quieter and more environmentally friendly vehicles.
