Self-cleaning aircraft seats under development

Recaro Aircraft Seating is reported to be developing a self-cleaning aircraft seat infused with a disinfectant that destroys almost every germ on contact within seconds using a newly developed antibacterial film.

The self-cleaning seats will somehow communicate their level of cleanliness with oncoming passengers, although it is unclear exactly how this process will work.

Another challenge is how to bring antibacterial coatings, which are currently used for hard surfaces, to fabrics.
