Singapore partnership aims to divert sport shoes away from landfill

Sport Singapore and Dow have announced a partnership to divert 300,000 pairs of sport shoes away from landfill into building new sports infrastructure.

The USA-based materials science company will work with Singapore’s national sporting agency to transform shoes contributed by members of the public into jogging tracks, fitness corners and playgrounds over the next three years.

This circular economy project collects used sports shoes, including school shoes and football boots without metal studs, from the public.
